Patients treated in hospitals
Patients treated in hospitals is an indicator of levels of illness in the population.
Patients treated is the number of individuals treated for a particular diagnosis in hospitals. This is thus a very good indicator of health trends in our populations. It must be noted, however, as since not all illness is treated in hospitals, thus the picture given remains not complete.
Data on number of patients treated, by disease groups, age groups and sex, are available in our database in under Treatments in Hospitals.

Hospital data definitions
In countries where unique identifiers are available for individuals it is possible - by diagnosis group - to count the number of individuals receiving hospital care (patients treated), in addition to the number of discharges. The Nordic countries are among a limited number of countries where this is possible.
