Childbirth

The section provides an overview of all calculated compensations rates in the event of childbirth. Compensation rates measure the benefits as a proportion of previous income.

Single with newborn child

The calculated compensation rates shown in the graphs for single parents compare the income level after receiving a parental benefit with the income level from work. To reflect differences in the size and composition of a household, the calculation is equivalised by weighting household members according to their age and their status in the household.

Couple without children besides the newborn

The calculated compensation rates shown in the graphs for couples with two children besides the newborn compare the income level after receiving a parental benefit with the income level from work.

The lower income is for the parent receiving the benefit while the other parent receives the higher income from work. To reflect differences in the size and composition of a household, the calculation is equivalised by weighting household members according to their age and their status in the household.

Couple with two children besides the newborn

The calculated compensation rates shown in the graphs for couples with two children besides the newborn compare the income level after receiving parental benefit with the income level from work.

The lowest income level in each graph corresponds to the level compared for the parent receiving benefits, whereas the highest income levels in the graphs are used to compare the wage from working for the other parent.

The calculation is equalized with respect to the size of the family before and after birth to secure comparability.
