Nososco Cost of living tool (CostLi)

The tool is named Nososco Cost of living tool (abbreviated CostLi) and provide access to unique data for analysis of estimated cost of living of households in the Nordic countries. The Nososco working group named “Social benefits group” stands behind the data and the development of the CostLi tool.

The Social benefits group first presented this analysis on cost of living at the Nordic Welfare Forum in 2023. Since then, several Nordic institutions and ministries have asked for separate presentation of the data. Following this interest, and in the interest of further analysis of this important topic, the working group have now developed a tool for presenting all available data on this topic.

The tool therefore provide data on the estimated effects on income levels for households and families, already presented in the Nososco Hypothetical Household tool. Furthermore, the CostLi tool include estimated effects on all social benefits and employment.

Data behind the analysis and the outcome is also presented in the tool e.g., the selected consumer price indices used for predicting continued inflation if a crisis had not occurred, and the “extra burden” indicator that is the outcome of this analysis.

You can read more about the material from the working group here: https://nhwstat.org/life-situations, and read the article behind the analysis here: https://nhwstat.org/welfare/thematic-articles-welfare/cost-living.

The CostLi tool is also available from the “Data”-section on the frontpage of https://nhwstat.org/

The Social benefits group will continue its work on these data.
